Same row crop 90

I'm a bit new here. I've been lurking on and off for years but never joined.

I'm not sure if I'm in the right section but I have a questions related to a same row crop 90.

I acquired the tractor a few years ago and havent really messed with it. It currently will start but runs rough and back fires through the intake which is what I'm sure led to the shaft snapping on the turbo.

I've check the valves and they all seem to be adjusted properly. I had the injectors checked and they are spraying properly.
I just pulled the timing cover today. It looks like the pump gear only goes on one way. I dont see any timing Mark's but someone was in there marking the pump and cam gears.

My question is, how do you properly time these motors?

I've found an online manual but havent pulled the trigger on it yet

I cannot directly answer your question, but would
like to ask one to you. Have you cleaned your fuel
tank and fuel lines? I had a diesel tractor that would
run fine sometimes and rough other times and
backfire. It was junk blocking the flow of fuel from
the tank. Just a thought you might check out, no
real cost, just your time.

Fuel flow is good and filters are clean. It's actually blowing flames out of the intake when it back fires which leads me to believe timing is out.

[SAME] 90 row crop. How do you properly time these motors?

It's a SAME engine which isn't common in this country. Buy the manual and maybe join an European tractor forum.

Nobody can accuse them of not making a ton of different models, even several versions of the model 90. Click on the link
below and then click on the model 90 version you have for some specific info. Not much there to help with your problem but
interesting. The guys who suggested a manual gave good advice. A shaft broken on the turbo, that sounds like it might empty
a guy's pockets.

Lots of them for sale, once again click on the link below. Then Google SAME TRACTOR DEALERS USA (assuming you live in the US)
and you'll find a few, maybe they can help with the manual. Nice looking tractors, always an issue when you are dealing with
off brands even though they might be a good tractor. Then again, diesels are diesels regardless of who made them.

I've found a few parts tractors. I've been playing with the timing today. I move the pump gear a few teeth either direction and it still pops out of the exhaust and blows a constant cloud of smoke

i worked at a place that sold same .i helped the same tech time a buffalo. it is a complex process that involves special adapters for the push rods
and 3 metric dial indicators. they had a shop manual that has to be followed to the letter. this buffalo was only a few degrees out of time and was
over heating dropping valves and splitting the jugs. you need to find some one that knows how to time that engine otherwise you will ruin the engine
