Tractor Rides

I made a buddy seat on one of my tractors and my grandson and I would go to tractor parades. People would tell me that they had seen plenty of buddy seats but none with a steering wheel.
My grand son out grew the seat so now my grand daughter has taken over.

Pretty neat idea. Adorable granddaughter.

She looks to be about the same age as our granddaughter.

Now you can see her great big smile! She looks like a real character. That wheel gives them something to hang onto.

Great idea! A lot of fun for a little kid to ride on a big tractor like that. She'll remember it forever.

No children on tractors, never, ever. Many tragedies on this site, too many to mention. For one example, that old seat spring on that beautiful old Farmall snaps in two, drops you, flips you, who can hang on, but also flips that little girl right backwards. Never.

Sorry, I disagree. Kids need to have some fun, and as long as you make it as safe as possible (see the seat belt on the little girl?), go for it. Life is full of risks- swimming, skiing, etc. Where do you draw the line? I grew up leaning on the fender of an 8N Ford, and standing up in the Buick, holding onto the rope on the back of the front seat.

I d put fenders on that thing. I ve got a H, and if the wheels are turning, those lugs can skin you up pretty good.

If you go to the Mackinaw Bridge crossing in September you will see more buddy seats than you can shake a stick at. All sorts of ideas there.

Seat just looks to NOT be made strong enough and need some side rails on the seat like the letter series Deeres.

She's got a seat belt on and I'm sure you using common sense anyway so I don't see nothing wrong with it. It's better than having her sit in front of her iPad all day long. Will probably be a lifetime memory for her. When I saw it I figured some wood be complaining about the safety aspect of it.

I respect your right to have an opinion that differs from mine.

I bet Rollie is almost as smart as you......if he thought his grand daughter was in danger he would not have her on the tractor.

Coshoo .... well your childhood antics on the 8N and Buick were admirable but unsafe. Not sure if you are bragging about that or not. Close your eyes and think of the strangest, most unlikely and most impossible accident that could happen to a kid on a tractor. Or anyone on a tractor, just not a kid. Rest assured, it can (and has) happen(ed). Never test fate is what I say, better safe than sorry.

We kids would stand on the drawbar of our cousin's big Farmall in Virginia for the ride down to the store to buy a coke. I think we held onto the fender or the back of the seat or whatever we could grab. Gravel road, lots of potholes, bumpy ride. Store was about a mile away. Never lost anyone--we were VERY careful when we did dumb, dangerous stuff LOL.

If he would have shown a solid mount some would be thinking different but it does not show a solid mount and shows like right over the rear tire. A good solid mount and tire protection would make a big difference but I do not see that, just hope it is better than it looks.

So no kids in automobiles? They get killed in those every day. Also die riding horses,4 wheelers, bath tub, bikes, sports danger in everything. That little girl is in less danger than
doing about anything I listed.
