WWII Massey Ferguson Airfield tractors

Hi my name is Stephanie Lawton, I work as an unpaid volunteer Exhibition Officer at the Solway Aviation Museum, Carlisle, Cumbria (Registered Charity)
Did Massey Ferguson build Airfield tractors that were used during WWII in the UK. Does anyone know if any of these tractors were used on Cumbrian Airfields, that's if they built them.

Massey Ferguson did not come into being until the mid-1950's. Its predecessor Massey Harris would be the one in question and for that I do not have an answer.

Hi Stephanie, Massey Harris tractors were used on the American and Canadian Air
Force bases but not the British ones. The RAF used David Brown and Fordson tractors
for towing aircraft and the bomb trolleys. MJ

From the online Canadian Archives: "R.C.A.F. Mechanical Transport Vehicle. April 12, 1943".

It is a <M-H> model "81", or "82".

From what I understand, the earliest tractor with the Ferguson name on it was a Ford. This was from 1939 to 1946. It was still labeled as a Ford, but had "The Ferguson System" badge that referred to the draft system that Harry Ferguson has developed.

He and Henry Ford soon parted ways, and the Ferguson tractor, a TE20 (England), and a TO20 (USA) went on the market in 1946.

There was also a Massey Harris line that was sold beginning around 1946.

Then Massey Ferguson began in 1960 to present.

So, anything used during WWII would have been the Ford with the Ferguson badge. All true Ferguson, Massey Harris, or Massey Ferguson would have been post war tractors.

Ferguson History

Massey Harris was sold well before World War II, it had nothing to do with Ford or Ferguson until the 60s. MH had tractors that matched with row crop and standard tread models made by almost every other US tractor company.

this probably doesn't help.

the Massey Harris I-330 was used by the Navy. I think in the 1950's.

Thank you for your help

Thank you giving your thoughts about our Phantom. It was all down to Steve and Mark, they worked tirelessly to get it in the condition it is in today. (What a great job, they deserve a medal) I will send them this reply, so thank you once again. Watch this space, the E.E Lightning is going to get the same treatment, but they aren't saying what livery it is being put in

Thank you for replying to me, with the information.
I have information on the Fordson and David Brown Airfield Tractors, I thought that Massey Ferguson, might have been their competition.
