Kubota L3010 air alarm

Sorry to post about a modern tractor but I could use some advice. This tractor has an air flow alarm on the dash. I replaced both air filters and cleaned everything but still have the alarm. The air flow sensor has two wires going to it. They show a short until I suck on the sensor then they go open so it seems to be good. With the sensor disconnected the alarm on the dash is gone. I can blow thru the tube leading to the sensor but I see something silver looking in that tube. Is this a wire mesh "filter" or is it not supposed to be there and is restricting the air flow?
Any ideas?

Thanks.
Dave

Not familiar with that tractor, but typically the sensor reads vacuum, as in vacuum behind the air filter because the filter is clogged.

So, applying vacuum to the sensor would cause the contacts to close, not open. My theory anyway...

Does the light come on with the switch on, engine off?

If so, I'm guessing a bad sensor or there is some type of reset on the sensor.

Ninety percent of the time it is bad sensor and I think your checking proves that. That you sucking on it OPENS the switch so the light should go out.

When I got my International 5900i with C-15 Caterpillar, I read in the owner-operators manual for the motor: "Hey idiot! don't you even think of opening that air cleaner up until the air intake restriction indicator activates!" I kept it for two years and it never showed restriction so I never opened it. I keep checking the one on my 2006 F-350 too, but it never shows restriction. Manufacturers don't like having their product damaged by the introduction of dust during servicing.
