Another Super C Carb question

I feel bad about posting so many questions, but I am a little nervous with the carburetor and this is turning into a mini nightmare for me. I am sorry if I seem impatient, or I seem like I am not listening to people, trust me, I am taking in all of your advice.

The brass jet screw near the tube like port in the bottom half of my carburetor was stripped when I took the carb apart.

I said in a different thread that I might replace it if the kit comes with one, but upon further inspection, I think that screw might be my problem. When I shined a flashlight down into it, it seems like the brass is deformed and is partially blocked the hole in the screw.

It seems like the brass, when it was stripped by the previous owner (not me, I swear) lodged itself or bent itself in the way of the fuel flow. I do not see any way to fix it. I think I will need to replace the screw.

I checked the rest of the carb, and the little holes in the thin pipe like structure were not plugged. The only issue I could find is the obstruction in the brass jet screw.

This is the screw I am talking about, the one I circled. What does it look like, since I am afraid to try and remove it and look for myself before.

That is the idle fuel jet.

Best leave it be, just poke it out with a small wire. If it appears partially blocked, pick the pieces of brass out of the way.

Follow up with a shot of spray carb cleaner to be sure the passage is open down to the main well.

A small drill bit that is the correct size to drill it out os about the only way to fix it. I've had to do that many times over he decades I have been rebuild carbs

Ok, thank you guys.

So now I know my issue is with the carburetors idle fuel jet.

I have also seen a part on diagrams called the well vent jet, is that different?

Thank you guys so much, I cannot express how thankful I am to have help like this available online.

John

John, I need to make a correction.

That is not the idle jet. That is a "well vent jet". Not sure what it does exactly.

But the port beside it is the fuel passage for the idle circuit. The idle fuel jet is in the upper housing, directly above that hole.

Be sure that jet is clean, and the passage down into the bowl is clear.

Steve,

I am afraid my well vent jet might be damaged, and I was actually able to remove it without much trouble since it seemed to be a little loose.

Now, I have the option to put the same damaged well vent jet back in the carb, or buy a replacement. I want to buy a replacement well vent, but I do not know the size. My carb is a Zenith, its numbers are 52499 9752 DB. From what I gather, I need a well vent jet C77-18-22.

I know I am asking a lot of questions, and I understand if you do not have the time to keep answering them, but I really appreciate your help.

John

Google is your friend. You are not going to be asking questions that have never been asked by someone else. Google first, and then ask here if you do not understand what you saw in your research. Take time to think about what you have found and try to figure it out on your own. Then ask. I was just like you when I started here, and some of the people who helped me in the beginning, slowly stopped helping me. A very important asset is to be able to see what is in front of you. Google will have pictures and videos that you can look at. If it is different than what you have in front of you, then that might be the problem.

A pin vise set can be very handy for cleaning out small holes. They sell them on amazon for about ten bucks and include a selection of drills from .012" up to about 1/16".
