Ford 600 carburetor problem

I have a 1955 Ford 600 tractor. It has an original Marvel Schebler carburetor TSX580.
I have overhauled the carburetor twice. Put in all new gaskets, new needle float valves and seat. I have tried it with and without spring for the float valve. Put gas in the gas tank and it comes straight out the carburetor. Can anyone out there help me as to why this might be happening?

When you put in the new needle seat did you put the gasket washer under it?? Is it good and tight??When you flip the carb upside down then right side up can you hear the float moving?? Is it a rubber tipped needle?? If yes you need to put a set in the rubber by dropping it in the seat and then tap on it a couple of times with a screwdriver or other such thing

Yes put new gasket washer under float seat. Very tight. You can hear float when turning car upside down and then run right side up. It is a rubber tipped need all my fourth. I will try that tapping. I am very grateful for your help and will let you know if it works thanks again.

Give the float the "shake test" to feel for gas inside one of the pontoons. If there is, replace the float

Before putting the top on the bowl, turn the top upside down with the float resting on the needle valve. Suck on the fuel inlet fitting and hold your tongue over the hole. It should hold vacuum. If it won't, something is wrong, the needle valve is not sealing, the seat is not sealing against the gasket, the float is binding...

Watch carefully as the bowl is lowered onto the top. Be sure the float isn't touching anywhere. Do the "suck test" again.

Is the fuel clean and filter screens in place in the inlet elbow and the sediment bowl? You can take a fuel sample in a clean glass, see if there is anything coming down the line, like rust or dirt. It only takes a tiny speck to hold the needle valve open. I like to flush the line before making the final connection, especially if the area around the carb is dirty and difficult to get to. You can even let some gas trickle as you make the connection.

Two things to look at. Is needle
valve long enough for float to
operate it or is float contacting
seat before it seals needle. 2): make
sure float is not hitting bowl or
other area to prevent it from raising
as full level does. (I've seen some
of the cheap generic carburetor kits
where the needle and seat were not
compatible)

If none of the obvious issues solve the problem, check/adjust the float drop.

Just about no one checks this, and if the float is allowed to "drop" (lower) too far, it can wedge and stick in the float bowl, preventing it from floating up to close the needle valve.

Float setting should be 1/4" and float drop should be no more than 1/2" or so.

one quick check I like to do -- Put the float in the fridge for 5 minutes and then hold it in a bowl of hot water -hold it under and
watch for bubbles -- when the float warms-up it will put out a few bubbles if it has a hole in it!

Is the bowl vented? I fought a Zenith with a gasket that covered the vent. About a dozen tries before I found it.
