Packer Harrowing.

Some video of me from this spring trying to smooth and pack the loose dry soil in the oat field I planted. It was shot a couple of weeks or more ago. The oats are up pretty nice now and still looking skyward for the rain that never comes. Being planted on black summerfallow they will have a fair moisture reserve but I don't know if they can hold out the whole summer if the "no rain" trend continues. If nothing else they should at least make bales and there will be plenty of demand for that it seems.

How wide is the Morris Wrangler? Looks to be in the 50 to 60 ft range. You always have such interesting videos. I saw the old thresher go by as you traveled to the oats field. I'll add a prayer for rain for your region.

I really like that piece of equipment, covers a lot of ground & doesn't seem to pull hard. Always enjoy the videos, keep them coming.

That is a 50 foot packer harrow built by Morris. It is a good bit heavier than the basic tine harrow drawbar. Due to the extra weight of the packers and the much heavier frame. I use it more now since the regular tine harrow drawbar has almost worn all the teeth down.

The organic guy I work for has one of those except his is a flexi coil it does a nice job that?s for sure

The packer harrow bars have become kind of obsolete here now that most seed with drills and on row packers. I'm still farming with 30 year old methods and machinery.

Nothing wrong with farming with old machines I?m
Using 50 and 60 year old equipment and it gets the
job done
