Driving on the shoulder, high speed, with the box up?!?! Looks like if the truck had been in a driving lane, the sign wouldn't have caught it. What's that laying next to the truck?
 
That is a very strong sign post !! When I see these
kind of things, it makes me wonder if the guy just
didn?t shut off the pto pump, and the hydraulic
control just creeps in the up hoist position. You
could start off with the box down, and with a empty
truck, perhaps it could raise, but not enough creep
on the valve to let it rise loaded. Of course you
shouldn?t be ripping down the highway with the pto
on either
 
You are also supposed to have a red light on the dash that is on if the body is off the frame. Better work if DOT inspects your truck.

SMS, that rule is YTDOT only. There is no real DOT rule for that. One of the trucks that I drive has the red indicator light the other has nothing. DOT inspections don't call for it either. I could see not noticing the body up at night, but in daylight it is hard to not notice the light coming in the window.
