Almost got the corn done and it started raining....again! grrrr

Got a little shower here today, been dry for almost 2 weeks. My heavy ground has a hard crust on it and things are not growing as they should. Would have been nice to get a half inch or when an inch to soften it. Still plenty wet underneath, but a little would have been nice. Supposed to rain again in Tuesday, but I think that will be too late for the corn. Guess a rotary hoe is going to be in the list.

Got all of ours done yesterday thankfully. Now, to just be able to get started on the soybeans sometime soon... Good luck Jon.

On NPR radio this morning they interviewed a farmer in I think Iowa? Sorry I was just waking up. The whole interview was how blasted wet everything is. Flooding, solid mud farms and fields, floods in towns, etc. The guy was really upset telling her that not even 25% of the corn crop is in and nothing of the bean crop. He told her the corn crop planting should have been done a couple of weeks ago.

I share your pain onefarmer. Still trying to plant grain, to grow at least a crop of straw for bedding. No corn silage planted yet on my farm, and hay fields are really soft. Only have one 15 acre field of hay done. Doesn?t dry well even for silage bales. We are now 2-3 weeks behind in our work.

In the same boat about. We did get the corn in. All except the Last 50 acres I think I'm just going to do intended acres and see what the insurance will do. Now the beans will not get planted till almost July the way it is raining. Will take a week to dry out now. I might just wind up going the same route on the beans as the corn if it keeps raining. Not sure it will be worth the work of planting if it gets close to July to plant beans. At least the hay and wheat look good.
