Interseeding grass

Hey guys, I have a small field of just a few screws of grass in front of my house. Seems thin and doesn?t produce much. Short of digging it up what?s the best way to try and thicken this stand?

Thanks

Sorry should have been more specific. I cut it for hay right now but will be fencing it in for a small pasture in a year or so. Location is southern mn

I have found that fertilizer will work wonders. If your pH is low lime will make the fertilizer even more effective. Much less time and money than turning it over. Spread the fertilizer just before a good rain for best results.

Get a soil sample done to see what's lacking. Just throwing on fertilizer is a gamble if you don't know what you REALLY need.

I went in with a power harrow set really shallow only about 3 inches deep then frost seeded a dryland pasture mix and a mix of five different clovers last November it is looking pretty good this spring
