Wish I had a lathe.

Ran one in the Navy so I know what one will do.
But I don't have a lathe.
So this evening I contrived this bushing on a bolt in a drill that was clamped in the vise.
Friend gave me a piece of delron and drilled the center hole for me.
The old bushing was rubber and was gone long ago.
Between an angle grinder, a couple different files and a hacksaw I got a bushing I like.
It snapped in there tight.
Will probably outlast a rubber one too.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Surprised you didn't recognize it, Ultradog. Its military. M27A1 tin thing, one each, oval, blue in color, with hole, big (open) and hole, little, with bushing. No one knows it's purpose- that's classified.

back in the day i made a firing pin for an old noble shotgun from a head bolt with a drill and a file. talk about wanting a lathe.

I have an opposite problem. I have a lathe but don't know how to run it. Had run one in high school 45 years ago and thought I could handle one so I bought one. Not like riding a bicycle.

I bought a used 10 inch x 36 inch lathe 40 years ago. Don't use it much, but it priceless when I need to make something. Works great for polishing the rods on my hydraulic cylinders.

A lathe is a tool I'll never be without especially when working on electric motors, or making unusual parts for tractor.
