OT gmc oil presure senser

Have 2000 gmc with 4300 vorex v6 engine, can't locate the sender unit. It peggs out with key off or on. Engine running or not. Could be gauge problem. Want to check sender first. But have to find it. Thanks for help.

Older gm engines had the sensor on the back of the engine, so look in the location of the distributor if it has one. Rear of the intake.

I believe that one is on the top rear of the engine.

There is a stand pipe with a 90* fitting on top, so support the fitting as not to break it off in the block!

Might try disconnecting the plug first, see if that drops the gauge. If not, the sending unit may not be the problem, could be the wire is grounded somewhere, pinched, burned, chewed...
