Time is going fast, we are getting close to getting first pieces of equipment running, of which there will be about 150.

My customer is bringing production back from China, yay.

I lived here for four years in the 90s, been there, was great.

I built this plant over the span of 20 years, no work here in last 10 years, they were planning to scuttle, but decided to bring products back.

He has nothing to do with this, the customer got tired of china stealing all the technology.

I hope that companies start to look at the entire picture not just the short term financial one. Up front China's cheap labor and few labor or environmental laws, looks attractive. Then they find out the same lack of laws effects them too. China's Communist Party rules. They will gladly steal your ideas and go into direct competition with you.

This country needs some common sense injected into the far left's and right's ideas. Things do not need to be a battle to win over the other. Companies and employees both can mutually benefit each other by working together.

If we are honest with ourselves we would know it was us the consumer and factory worker and not the business owners that caused this problem in the first place.

As a consumer we switched from buying a good product and having it fixed when it broke to buying throw away products for a cheaper price.

As a factory worker we demanded higher pay and better benefits to where we outpriced ourselves in the world market.

I can remember as a child we had the same TV and refrigerator for years and years.
We made due and had it fixed if it broke.

Today people buy a new TV and refrigerator just because it is a newer model or bigger than the one we have even though the old one works just fine because we have money to burn with our high pay rate.

To compete and stay in business a business has little choice but to go where labor rates are low and to build a throw away product.
Subsidized shipping by our government from China to the USA probably sped this process along when it first started.

Totally agree and taking a window AC for example, a new fan motor excluding time to install and order it and all, costs half the price of a complete new unit. Why would a person pay half and get 1 new part and all the rest are worn out, just waiting to be the smoking gun when you can have a nice new shiny one.

On the subject of window ACs, having been around them all my life, the products for sale today at the big box stores and elsewhere are of the finest quality. Never have I had one that has the design and production processes to ensure high efficiency, quietness of opertaion, functionality, and long life as I have over the last 10 years where most of these units are made you know where. Why didn't good old Made in the USA products do things like Alodine (or similar corrosion resisting chemicals) the evaporator coils, or install sealed fan motors, or design bottom pans to resist rust, or put in efficient parts or or or!!!!!!

Don't bet your skivvies on it. It's always short term to keep the stock up because stock sales are where they get their operating-expansion money and the "big boys" get paid in stock to exercise the tax loophole: The 20% Long term Capital Gains vs progressive ordinary income tax. Human nature we homo sapiens possess to protect our bodies won't let us do the right thing usually in business dealings......or maybe it's just greed!

What chaps me is that I am guilty as anybody. Case in point, I get ticked that everything for sale is $XX.99 rather than the whole number a penny higher. And if you question a merchant about why not do the next whole number they respond "it's because the price is $XX.99". We know the real reason the brain locks in the XX and doesn't want to consider the real price of the item.........Buttttt when there is a refund, sale, cash back, rebate and such, it's always at the next higher number with no 99999999s so that your brain will think you are getting a better deal.

So here I am getting ready to sell something and I am determining a price. Hmmmmmm...... No joke I do the same thing for the same reason...... UGH!
