My TO20 keeps missing

My TO20 keeps missing and sometimes shuts off. There is plenty of gas going to the carburetor. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you done some trouble shooting??
#1 check that you have a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 gap or moore at all the plugs.
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes
#3 when was the last time you serviced the air cleaner and dump the mud and water out and fill with fresh oil

I have done all that, plus gapped the point in the distributor and plugs. new plug wires. good compression. rewired the whole tractor.

When it starts to miss and tries to stall, feel the coil with your fingers (carefully) if it is hot, So hot that you
could not hold on to it, the coil is breaking down. replace it. feel the distributor shaft side to side up down,
not in out, if you can feel any play it is too much and the distributor needs to be rebuilt/replaced. Jim

I will try that. My coil is also cracked and had leaked oil. But, the Ohms are still where they should be. Could it still be a bad coil because of the crack?

The coil is toast It is important to change it because the oil is the coil's cooling system. and cracks collect conductive dirt, and short the
spark. Jim
