steve @ advance, I started tractor this morning and lift went up even with lever down, so I revved it up to half throttle and it worked right. I used 15 w40 in the transmission .would that cause it to act up?

Jim,
From his post yesterday:

put a 451 new Holland on my massey 35 ,picked it up ,now it wont go down. What could have happened?I got off and ran to the house, I was skeered it was gonna blow the TOP off

Thanks. I guess it could be that now it is working because the higher pressure re-seated a valve. Jim

Did you put the draft control between the 2 marks?

I think that is more where the problem is, draft control is reacting to the weight of the implement. You might post on the Massey Harris/Massey Ferguson board, ask for the proper adjustment of the draft control lever. You want that feature disabled when using anything but a plow, best I understand.

That it went down overnight is a good thing, nothing is broken.

The 15w 40 oil is acceptable, preferred for cold climate, but good for any temp.
