Hydraulic flow of truck pto?

I realize this is an "it depends" question but hope there might be some general rule of thumb too. I have a 2000 F550 7.3 diesel that had a pto driven dump body. I just removed the dump and thinking adding rear remotes to help transport implements would be more useful than a dump stake body. Think the pump could do the job? It's a Muncie unit but that's about all I really know.

Of the pump is good it should
put out 2500 psi. Will be more
than most tractors. More
gallons too in most cases.

I plumed a second valve into my flat bed dump for just the reason you are talking about. I go and pick up planters, disk or about any farm implement to tow. Real handy when there is not a tractor around.

Is the pump mounter directly to the PTO unit, or a separate pump/reservoir unit?

The link below will show you some common pump/reservoir units along with GPM and PSI "specs".

If the pump is mounted direct to the PTO unit, there'd be a WIDE range of what it's GPM output might be.

Even though a 2000 7.3L PSD has around 250 hp the amount of hp available at the PTO is limited, I think
40-50 hp. You must have a manual transmission, the automatics didn't have pto's to my knowledge. But that
make a LOT of hydraulic flow and pressure for running a couple sets of remote outlets. With some creative
plumbing you could have your hoist and the remotes. I was looking at buying an IH low profile 4200 or
4300 back about then to do what you want to do with your 550. I was going to run an air compressor with a
2nd pto.

Thanks for all the replies. It does have it's own reservoir and is a manual transmission truck. I really don't care to have it dump, so being able to do both isn't a problem (though I agree it would be an easy "upgrade" for someone who wanted both). And yeah, it's for when a tractor isn't around such as buying used equipment. Mostly I figure the parts are there so I might as well have em do something. It will be my first bed build and first major welding project so I wanna Keep it simple.
