Andy Griffith on a tractor

Neat photo, KCM.

I've seen those arrowhead tread tires before but only on 8Ns.

You will note that Andy has his right hand on the touch control handle. Perhaps not necessary with a new 8N with draft control, but he's likely not a novice.

kcm,I seen your post yesterday.I do look at the pictures every day but seldom comment.
I enjoy and appreciate the effort you put in with the pictures daily.

Always figured Andy for a Hoyt-Clagwell man.

Ford was everywhere, weren't they? I think later on, even Mr. Douglas traded in his H-C for a Ford.

Our '52 8n had those tires-I always thought of them as 'checkmarks'. Our fronts were the same as those in the picture. I think the rears were b.f.goodrich. Mark.

Their police cruiser was an early-60s Fairlane, I think. I used to enjoy some of the old jalopies that would appear on the show. Otis was one of my favorite characters--well played.

Oh, nice old tractor BTW. Great shot of Andy and his machine.

The Allis Chalmers salesman who used to write in Antique Power used to tell people that you had to keep your hand on that handle to lift it plow if going got too tough. But his Allis would pull right on through.

Word must have gotten around.

The next year, no picture in the Ford sales brochure showed a man's hand on the lift lever.

Rears were BF Goodrich "Super Hi-Cleats. Had them on my first tractor, AC model C. Late 50s. they were excellent pullers. Once, even pulled out our stuck WC, which got stuck trying to pull out the stuck WD45.

The police cruiser is sitting in a the
little town of Caesar, NC. I looked it
over a couple years ago. The owner wasn't
in good health so it may be gone now.

Not sure about the tractor pic but if
it's real it was probably taken in
Greenville,NC. Lee's family farmed there
and Andy used to visit often.

That's what's on my 51.
