Have a 4010 when pto engages it will come on as it is supposed to but when I increase the rpms it slows to almost nothing also I was wondering how difficult it is to remove the drawbar support shaft as it is leaking and the seal needs replaced

You will get a lot more responses if you post on the DEERE-specific Forum lower down on the page.

NOT sure what you've got going on with the PTO, if it's the PTO clutch at the flywheel slipping, or the "shift" for the 540/1000 PTO.

LOTS of info on both in the archives at the DEERE Board on either possible PTO issue, and how to change the load shaft seals.

Welcome to YT
Sounds as if pto clutch is slipping but need more information. Changing L/D shaft seals is fairly straight forward & been discussed many times. There should be a lot of info in archives if you utilize the search function located above.

While we are on this subject, I heard the 4010 had a pin inside the fluid section that would shear resulting in loss of the PTO function whereby the 4020 did away with it. Having had both, I always wondered if I would be doing something with the 10 that would cause the pin to shear. Course in answering the question, I'd assume shearing of a pin would render it totally useless, one would suspect.....never did shear it.

Simple version is that 540 and 1000 stub shafts get swapped by bolting the desired one to the "hub" at the back of the tractor.

There's a spring-loaded shift collar inside the transmission area behind the clutch housing.

When you remove the stub shaft, it defaults to the rearward position, selecting one of the speeds (I don't remember which).

There's a rod extending to the "hub" that gets pushed on by one of the shafts, as you bolt it on, moving the collar forward.

If the splines are not matched so the collar can slide forward, and the bolts in the PTO stub shaft are tightened, a pin gets sheared that connects the shift rod to the shift collar.

One of the "stub shafts", either the 540 or the 1000 has a "pocket" in it so it doesn't push the shift rod forward, but the other does.

So, if you were to look at the stub shafts, the one with the "pocket" or blind hole in the center doesn't push on the shift rod, so that stub can't shear the shift pin.
