NEW 2019 Chev 45, 55, 6500 Series Trucks!

Was driving on I-70 this evening before dark in downtown Indianapolis heading West at 54 MPH; When a loaded semi trailer with new 4500, 5500 Chevrolets passed me a few miles faster. Only heard rumors GM was starting production. Now I know its true. Online information says the trucks would not be available till late this year, & only base pricing is available. Been looking hard at new F-550's; But now am re-thinking. Fords made in Louisville. If the Chevys are not made here... thats an automatic elimination for me! Anybody know where the plant is?

Nice looking trucks. Good to see Chevy back in the medium truck business. Wonder if Dodge (Ram) will take the plunge.

Before you get to excited my Buddy?s truck has been in the shop for the last 6 weeks waiting for gm to get the part to fix his truck . 2016 Colorado

Interesting.

I did not know that GM had acquired or otherwise made arrangements with the Springfield plant.

I know of two companies that are buying F550/650's, they are simply tired of diesels and all emissions garbage, constant breakage and/or emissions system failures. They bought fords because a gas V10 was still available. Too bad chevy doesn't have a gasser worth putting in those, not all people will want a duramax.

From what I read They are still making Navistars on the same assembly line! Blew my mind; but anything that can help GM's Lousy reliability can only be good!!! My 2005 3500 was in the shop for electrical probably 24 times in the first 100,000 miles. Had 4 new radio/cd players alone, & needs a 5th one for the last 4 years. But... 235,000 miles, & still has the "original" front brakes, does not leak a drop of anything on the floor, & never had an actual transmission problem (other than a short in the steering wheel when new). & STARTS EVERY DAY IN MID WINTER NO MATTER HOW COLD! WHICH IS SOMETHING MY 2017 CUMMINGS DSL WONT DO even when its 11 Degrees above zero. Therefore... CUMMINGS ENGINES ARE OUT OF THE QUESTION!

Thats why I bought a Nissan Titan XD Pro 4X Cummings Dsl; But it wont start in cold weather... Which is unacceptable to me! It has to go! I probably will go with a gas 1/2 ton for everyday, & buy a 5500 size truck for farming.

I saw one the other day at a international dealer with a international logo on it and I thought to myself wait a minute that looks just like chevys new 4500 and above trucks.

I heard those v8 cummins had a hard time starting in the cold. If you buy a Ram 2500 or above with the inline 6 Cummins in it, they have no problem starting even in negative digits.

Eh hem, its "Cummins". How do you finally get it start, cycling the key more than once, cranking for a long time??? Anyway I think there is a revised glow plug module for that problem, probably keeping the GP's on for a longer duration.

GM has a 6.6 gasser . It is a stroked 6.2 with a cast iron block , direct injection and lowered compression ration. 401HP iirc.

It would not be out of the norm for GM to have Navistar resurrect the GM Vortec 8100 (8.1L) gas V8.
Of which GM sold the rights to Navistar when GM stopped producing them in 2009.

not really a big stretch anyway.

most medium duty trucks are a collection of standard parts. Front axles are mostly made by 1 or 2 companies. front brakes/hubs are made by a couple companies, a couple transmission options. 2 or 3 companies make the rear ends.

so the frame may be Navistar but the other parts could be any number of options no matter weather its a Ford, or GM or Navisatar or KW (med duty) or Frieght-shaker or....

just need someone to assemble them.

so the biggest difference would be the quality of the engine/cab and electrical (computer) systems
