Eastern-ish Pennsylvania Or Other - Where to See Deeres

In 2 weeks, my wife and I will most likely be traveling to New York State up I-81 through Virginia into Eastern(ish) Pennsylvania (she wants to see Hershey), then on into New York State up to Ticonderoga. I would like a chance to see, get on, and possibly even test drive some New Generation and/or Generation II Deeres.

I grew up around mostly the 30, 40, and 50 series utility Deeres (830, 2630, 2040, and 2350 MFWD), but we also had a pair of 4230s. We are interested in eventually purchasing a "smaller" 50 series Waterloo machine for our farm (4050, 4250, 4055, 4255), so having the opportunity to visit an equipment company that specializes in that era of Deere would be fantastic (there isn't anything like that around here, and tractors from that time frame in Deere's history are rare as hen's teeth in our neck of the woods, both for sale and in use).

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where we might go in the I-81 corridor of VA, Central to Eastern Pennsylvania, or Eastern New York State?

This may be a little south of where you wanted but check out The Cass Scenic Railroad in West Virginia. It's a little off the freeway but worth it.

Good friend of mine has a big collection of JD garden tractors and Brinly equipment, lots of rare things in his collection. He's about 35 miles East of I81.US 33 exit East at Harrisonburg VA

If you are going to Hersey, Pa. you might want to swing by the New Holland equipment plant in New Holland, Pa. They were doing tours at one time.

If you go to new holland you might as well stop by
the shady maple to eat it?s an experience you wont
forget some people have been known to call it the
hog trough

You will enjoy Hershey nice town its busy this time of year.
I have 2 sons that live there.
there is a Nice farm Equip dealer east of Hershey called Wengers
its in Myerstown Pa

Been there sevrral times myself. It is just a bit out of the way but worth it. Get the ticket to the top of Bald Nob. Also buy a box lunch next to the station and general store. They have ham biskets that are scrumptious. Great scenery and you will get your fill of Shay steam engines. Amazing how those things can darn near walk up a wall. Very steep track. Also in New Holland is a pretty good tractor scrap yard.

Shame he isn't going to Hershey the first full week of October. The worlds largest car show. Just the car parts flea market alone is over 61 acres!

A little farther west of there but a couple of tractor jockeys I know of that have lots of Deere's are Morrison Farms out of Smithville Ohio may not be the correct town. And Mast tractor sales of Mt. Eaton or Mt Hope ? I think Google will find a website for both of them.

They're not JD, but Barrick Tire in Newville, PA has a huge collection of Oliver tractors. He also stocks every toy that Ertl and several other toy companies make. He's just a few miles off I-81. Do a Google search for Barrick Tire Sales for his website.

Yes, look up and visit Wengers. Short drive from Hershey and lots of stuff. I don?t know if they do test
drives or not. Give them a call.

Radar, cant tell if you are looking to kick tires and test drive or actually buy. Based on the models you referenced, if you are tire kicking I can help. Visit Cowan
Tractor in Martinsburg PA. Not far off your path and in a beautiful area of PA. He has an internet presence, lots of JD inventory.

A little east of 81 in Hamburg is Stitzel's Farm Equipment. They have more used tractors than anybody else in that area,(and Brian's good to deal with).

Thank you all for your replies!

Looking primarily to "kick tires" right now, but will be buying within a couple of years. So, if I find a good dealer who specializes in the 50/55 series Deeres, I may pay him a visit on down the road when the time comes.

Of course, if we stumble across a good deal, there's a SLIM chance I could convince my wife we need to buy now!
