Kubota for hay making

What size Kubota would be recommended for hay work with big bales..I know this isn't an antique, but I found a M108 with cab and front wheel assist and a loader. I was all set to go look at it and the wife was even going with me! Then he calls and said, Well, its already hooked up to the disc mower so I think I will just keep it for now! I have just started to look seriously and I think I can swing about a 10-15 year old Kubota but not sure what size I need. Also want to use for disking. There seems to be more 90 hp ones around than 125 hp. Dont know much about Kubotas but wanting to possibly give one a try.

There are a lot of sizes when it comes to "round bales", but a 100hp tractor of any make will be more than adequate for any of them.

there good tractors, but like any tractor of any brand, you want a dealer close by, its a tractor, and your farming, which means sooner or later you'll need parts, out here in nm, kubota supports their equipment, well, almost as well as cat does. parts are a call away. like most Japanese tractors there a little bit fiddly, meaning if john deere uses one casting to make something kubota uses 4 to make a similar part, other than that there good reliable tractors and take a lot before failing

In that age tractor you are probably looking at a M 8200, or M 9000 . The M 108 was a little larger tractor. Sold a lot of the M 9000 . If you are thinking loader get a 4 wheel drive, hydraulic shuttle is also nice. Where are you located?

I have 3 neighbors with 95/108 HP Kubota tractors utilized for haying/tillage that they seem to get along well with these tractors. I have a M7040 that I utilize to handle 4X5.5 rd bales.pull 9 ft disc cutter & have pulled my rd baler with it when AC comp. was out on my JD

If its an older model your looking for in the over 100 hp size I don't thing they starting making them in that size hp until about 10 years ago. JM and Others will probably chim in that know more than I do on the matter.

I looked all over for a 60-70 hp kubota with a factory cab last year and everything I found was close to the price of a new one. So I brought a new one but did get a good price on trade in my 10 year old 54 hp kubota. They do seem to hold there value. Although I did get a good price on two used ones over the years and both were sitting on the lot of a JD dealership.

I didn?t have any experience with Kubota tractors until 2014, and I bought two new Kubota tractors that year. A GX 135 M and a GX 100 M. So only real advice I can offer to you would be to be sure you buy a tractor big enough to meet your needs. I traded my GX 100 M after 18 months on a new M6 141. The 100 just wasn?t big enough for the work I wanted to do with it. The larger tractors tend to come with bigger tires, give better ride and floatation. I like a 100+hp tractor on my round baler, because we make mostly wet silage bales. Silage bales can get heavy and take more power, and if you have hills in your hay fields, extra power makes baling going up the hill easier on the tractor, and the heavier tractor has better control going down, and a better chance of stopping to eject a finished bale on a hill.

You?re going to want a pretty big one if you want to handle big bales . My neighbor has about 110 horsepower and when you lift a 5x4 round bale the rear end won?t stay on the ground

i have a L3400 compact and if i put the bush hog on the back i can handle a 4x5, so i'd say anything over 60 horse and front assist will serve you well.

That doesn't even seem possible. I've lifted and moved more 5x6 bales than I can remember with my old Ford 3000. It does lift the front end a bit, but it's also a sub 50 hp tractor. My 65 hp Deere doesn't hesitate. What sort of 100 hp tractor can't handle a 5x4 bale?

That's odd my 70 engine HP Kubota M7040 has handled 1000's ppon 1000's of 4X5.5 rd bales since 2012 & the rear tires STAY ON THE GROUND. I have cast rear wheels & liquid ballast in tires.

He's picking them with the front loader, with no weights or fluid in the rear tires, and no counterweight.

Any 100HP tractor with nothing to counterbalance the loader is going to have problems.
I missed the part about lifting them with a loader. But still, I lift extremely tight 5x6 bales with my 65 hp Deere, with a bucket mounted spear, and the tires stay on the ground unless I get on some tricky terrain.

A Ford 3000 has more Iron in it than 100 hp kubota
from what I?ve seen running them . kind of like a
Belarus cheap and light but I?m sure with enough
weight they could handle bales fine

I have moved hundreds of 4x5 bales with a Ford 4000. loaded onto semi trailer to get off field and fed cattle in all weathers.

BX5800. 800 pounders all day long.

Lol I?m assuming you?re just trolling us Kubota owners. Neighbours have a Ford 3600 I?ve used a bunch, nice little utility tractor but weighs less than 1/2 our 100 hp Kubota.
