Anyone regret getting a Kubota (small) loader?

All,

I am about done using the skidloader for landscaping. We do have a nice Kubota BX 2360. I am toying with the idea of buying the loader attachment and getting rid of the skidloader.

Not a farmer, just residential use and was wondering if my possible choice is wise.

Sound off with opinion,

D.

A skid loader is a handy piece of equipment. You will lose efficiency and handiness with a smaller tractor-loader but if your budget says one or the other and you need something to do PTO work then go with a tractor and loader.

if you're talking about personal use around the house the loader tractor is the best choice, but if you're still in the landscaping business you'll need the skidsteer more.

They are nice machines, but I d get one with a hydrostatic trans. Much better on a loader tractor.

Not really a regret ,but on the small loaders with only 1 bucket cylinder this cylinder does not have enough power to hold what the lift cylinders will lift. So it depends on what you are trying to lift ? also they do not really go that high up. Double check the specs. to see if it will handle what you need to lift and go high enough to load in your truck too.

Might want to consider going up a notch in size to the B series. They do not cost much more and are a lot more tractor. I consider the BX to be kind of a toy.

Skid loader is like an extension of your hand for dirt work, the tractor and loader is. Bit more cumbersome and slow to use but the tractor is far far more versatile to use for many things, so the tractor and loader should serve you well unless you are still doing lots of landscape stuff.

The only regret I hear is on having too small a loader and tractor, think you are aiming pretty small there.

New loader bought separate from the tractor costs as much as a skid loader... lots of used ones around though from folks who wanted to just mow.

I have a BX2350 with loader and mower, will lift about 500# 6' or some, can be scary on hills. Don't you dare try to take it away from me unless you get me something a little bigger, the B does sound good, don't want too big or it becomes unusable for what I do.

I have a B5200 with a loader. It worked very well except mine was 2wd and the front axles weren't heavy enough to carry a loader. No telling how many king pins I've broke off.

B2650 with cab and loader. Handier than a pocket on a shirt.

Previous tractor was a John Deere 750 (about the same size/HP as the Kubota) which I ordered without a loader. I wasn't long correcting that oversight. I can't even imagine a tractor that size WITHOUT a loader.

I have an L4600 (before the pollution controls) with a heavy duty bucket on it. It's just 2WD, so it originally was a bit light on the back end, even with a 6' tiller. I recently added two sets of wheel weights in the back, and that has made a huge difference. I'll probably add a third set just for good measure. I don't do a whole lot of loader work, but it's really handy to have, plus it's helpful if I get in a little mud to push me back out.

He already has the tractor, all he is talking about is adding a loader to his tractor and yes all BXs are hydro

Dennis we have sold a lot of loaders on the larger BXs. Seems the most common comment is customers coming back and saying "You know this thing really does more than I ever expected" think you will like a loader on your tractor.

I bought the wife a BX20xx, used a few years ago. Had a loader and three point finish mower. The loader is rated for 400 pounds. I /we love it, very handy, the mower makes a good counter weight and mows great. For the bigger jobs I use my Ford Jubilee loader tractor. As I age I got to have a loader tractor and a back-up.

I bought a Kub.7510 about 8-9 years ago. The first time I took it to set-up for our threshing bee,
everyone poo-pooed it, snickered and such. After about an hour, it was "can you help move this?, could you lift this? can you tow that?" Now it's "you are bringing your tractor???"
Mine is 25-30 hp. and 48 inches wide, so it's pretty agile.
I frequently use mine to help lift big pieces in place.
They are tough. Parts a bit expensive, what few I've needed.
Filters and such at NAPA.
I added a remote cylinder valve to mine. Now I have a hydraulic adjustable top link.
If you're going to do any thing at all, get one!!!
With the 4-wheel drive, they're great for pushing snow. Or snow blower, or finish mower, or tiller.
Just gauge your implements to the size of the tractor and you'll do great

For just residential? Yea I'd say you should be fine with one.

What is the skid loader? That might explain why you don't like it.

If you're running some clunky old clutch drive Bobcat, Deere, IH, or something like that, the loader on your tractor will be a step up.

Nothing is so useless as a tractor that's too WIDE TO get into places where they are needed. You can get a small tractor that will go through a 4' gate, has less than 25 horsepower and will lift over a thousand pounds at the loader OR you can get one that will lift more, handle bigger implements AND go faster but will not help on the wrong side of the fence but will give more 'bragging rights' at the coffee shop. It's your choice.
