Farmall M three-point

I have a 1949 farmall m that I had installed a three point hitch on so that I could blade the drive way. The hitch came with a draw-bar that has been used for a pull behind 6 foot brush hog. I have recently obtained a little genius two-14 and am unsure if this hitch design is safe to use for heavy pulling. The draw-bar only attaches to the three point itself it does not extend up into the clevis underneath the rear-end of the tractor. This looks to me like it would cause a great deal of twisting force on the axle tubes where the three point clamps. Do you guys think I'm being over cautious or should I get/fabricate a draw-bar that would pull from the lower clevis?

I agree with your assessment. A trailer plow should be hooked to a center of tractor M drawbar. it would not need the U shaped component where your 3pt is mounted. It would need to be stable with some home made brackets for vertical and horizontal motion control. Jim

Simple. Buy another M and leave the standard drawbar on it.
I don't know why people struggle with these problems when they have obvious solutions.

The manner that the current draw is attached will brace it very well in the manner you stated I just need to see if a factory part will work with three point or make it so that it does. I appreciate the second opinion.
