Please be careful with your kids.

my 13 year old granddaughters best friend got wrapped up in a PTO shaft last night. She's on life support at this point, virtually every bone in her body is broke. Word is that she will go into surgery today to remove a blood clot in her back. Word at this point also is that if she lives she will lose both legs. Please watch your kids around PTO's, everybody.

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. Words cannot convey my thoughts. Prayers for her family and the father, Grandfather and or people who she was helping. God help them to heal.

As a volunteer fire fighter, I have responded to three of these incidents, as well as a few with augers. Yes!!! Keep those PTO covers, and
all safety shields in place.

So terrible. we all do things around the farm that we know we should not. We step over pto's crawl up down all around equipment that is sharp ,hard and unforgiving. We all need to be especially careful this time of year when we are trying to get things done. Pray for the little girl and be careful.

Oh, that poor girl! And her family too.

Adding her to my prayer list (and her family too). Hoping for the best possible outcome.

Dear God. My prayers go out to her. My family has frequently not understood over the years why I get so angry so quickly when I see them lean into a running piece of equipment. They just do not understand I cannot be political about it. I can remember a time when my wife was clearly unhappy with my response to seeing her lean to closely into an operating baler with a slug in the tines. Why not say something so I can shut it down fully? Nobody has any business being in contact with machinery that is engaged or being even remotely close to a PTO shaft, shielded or no, when it is engaged. I will tear you a new one if I see it.

That is so sad. I taught my son to never get out of the seat with the PTO running Loader flat on the ground and anything on the back lowered. I only had to get on him once. I am happy to say He still does it today as I watched him a short time ago.

I pulled a 325 NI picker a lot and I never got off the tractor with the PTO running to unclog it. I still have all of my fingers. A friend in Pa. thought he was smarter than the machine and he lost a hand and some fingers. Not worth it. I feel so sorry for this girl we will pray for her. Another lady who is a neighbor of Loren the ACG she bent down and ducked under the shaft that runs the kicker on a NH hay baler and she was taking up the bale tensions and the shaft garbed her shirt and rolled it up and killed her. Because of this accident NH put a cover on the bottom of the shield. Please keep us posted on how this girl is doing. OK

terrible terrible thing to happen. sometimes I think kids don't think of the dangers involved. plus parents ways saying stay away from this and that. instead teach them the dangers at an early age. I was with my father at a very young age like 3-4 years old riding around the field on the w6 . now kids cant even go out and eat a little dirt.

So what is the whole story?? How did she get into it and why was she around it in the first place. Never a a good thing to have a child that does not know better to be close to a moving PTO shaft or tractor

Takes my breath away to hear of a tragedy like this. What a horrible ordeal for any family to go through. Prayers for all involved.

Prayers for the girl, her family, and all concerned. I had an Uncle killed by getting caught in a PTO on a grinder. Terrible things happen when one tries to hurry.
