Allis Chalmers 160

Not really an ac at all think it is made in Romania or somewhere, had a neighbor that had one 30 years ago and it was a tough little tractor but I would suspect parts might be hard to come by now. Sure there is someone on here that has one or more experience than I. I jut draw up when I see folks putting loaders on 20 year old w wheel drive tractors. These new compact four wheel tractors will just do so much more, and yes they do cost more also.

Looking at one on FB for $2500, has a front end loader

The 160 had a Renault built (French) rear end and a Perkins 3 cyl 152 cid diesel engine (same as Massey 135). It is a decent tractor, problem areas include the hydraulic pump loosing prime when sitting awhile, and PS pumps are getting harder to find. I have 3, a regular, high clearance and Low center of gravity model (LCG, rare). Pic of my hi-clear and LCG

Great while they work.I had to go over with my 45 year old tractor with a loader to unload a load of hay for the farm across the river from me because of computer problems wouldn't let the tractor move.2nd time around on that cost them over $800 the first time to "fix' it just out of warranty. They paid somewhere in the 50K$ area for it.I can buy 10 good tractors with loaders for
that kind of money and I'll bet the farm I can get at least one of them to move when I need to unload hay(LOL)

Have one here,, Great starting and plenty of gears or at least this one does,, I had to replace the hyd pump as someone had gotten stuck when it was on a job in the Methane fields here and took it to pull the car out, they hooked to the tail wheel on the mower it had on it and must have stood it straight up in the air, as it lost prime and they left it running when they left and burned the pump up,, I am no AC fan really but this little machine is a great machine I think,, tag I though says made in France but I could be wrong,, this one has a remote hyd even, great power steering and factory front weights, it did have issues in the return lines leaking on the fuel system that caused it to lose prime,, I went through all that and zero issues since there,, the clutch is bad now but thats about all it needs to be a every day used unit again

Neighbor had one, seemed to be a good little tractor, he liked it, used it allot until he got to his 70's and said feeding cattle without a cab was too cold, so he traded it for a Ford with a cab.

Thanks for the comments, the owner contacted me this morning about it, seems he just got it from a neighbor and it?s bee sitting up a while, said it runs well but needs some work, evidently he acquired it just to resale. Believe I?ll keep looking...
