Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me read the serial numbers on my john deere tractors? Also im trying to figure out more information on them like the values and ext... Any help would be helpful..

Thanks

A little more information would help.

Roughly what year?

Old two-cylinder "Johnny Poppers" from the 1950's and older or New Generation diesels (or gas) from the 60's and newer?

Do you have the actual serial numbers written down or are you looking for information on where to find the serial numbers?

On this site to the left there is a research & info box with a serial number spot to click on. It will help you figure out the years.

I have a 1939 John Deere Model A, 1950 John Deere Model B, 1950 John Deere Model G, 1972 John Deere Model 4320, 1961 John Deere Model 4010, 1964 John Deere Model 4020 Diesel powershift 90 Horsepower, 1951 John Deere Model G All fuel Engine, 1963 John Deere Model 3010, 1969 John Deere Model 820 Diesel Engine, 1954 John Deere Model 40, 1951 John Deere Model A, 1961 John Deere Model 4010 Power steering and Diesel, 1959 John Deere Model 430 Wide Front End, 1944 John Deere Model B Manual Start, 1953 John Deere Model 60 Twin Front, 1953 John Deere Model 60 Single Front.

Looks like you already know the years. Are you just having trouble reading the exact numbers off the plates, or exactly what is your question?

I'm having trouble reading the serial numbers and and trying to research them. We are selling them all and trying to get the value on them.

Sometimes if you moisten your finger and run it over the number it will make it stand out a little more. Another trick that MIGHT work would be to lay a sheet of paper over the numbers and burnish it with a pencil.
Hope that helps. I agree that they can be very difficult to read sometimes. A good bright flashlight also helps.

what I do to get a clear read on a tag is take a picture with a digital camera, load the image onto my computer, then crop the image down to just the serial number. then the computer shows a larger image of the number that's easy to read.
