i have a 5600 ford with new engine in great shape that i been trying to sale for several years a coustmor of mine in interested in renting it any one have a idea of what one rents for per hr.. i am located in west ky

Ben think about this you NOW have a tractor that is worth $5,500.0 (or whatever you think it is worth) . You rent it for say $20.00 bucks and hour, one flat or torn up tire , or it blows the engine, or gets dented up. Just no way to recover enough to offset the risk. If you have been trying to sell a 5600 ford for two years and it has not sold almost for sure you are high on the asking price. That is one of the fastest selling fords out there. You may need to adjust your asking price rather than take that renting chance. Just one mans 75 year old opinion. I doubt that the guy will pay what true rental would be worth on the tractor considering the risk.

I just saw a dealer ad in the Farm Trader to rent a NEW tractor for $13 an hour if that gives you some place to start.

I agree with the other poster. If if hasn't sold, then the price is too high.Lower/adjust the price. that's is the biggest reason any item doesn't sell. Especially a high demand/popular tractor. The Ford 5x00 series is a popular tractor. Haul it to a consignment sale. It will sell well.I agree, renting is not a good idea. Sell him the tractor.

Upside of renting it is an easy hundred bucks or so. Downside is possible damage of several times that number, and wear and tear that will make your asking price even harder to get. Like the others said, adjust your price or put it in a consignment sale. You need only 2 people at a sale that want your merchandise, and there will be many at any sale that want a Ford 5600.

Just out of curiosity, how much are you asking for it?

I used to rent for $.10/hp/hr.
But that was over 20 years ago
so likely the rate is much
higher. I will ofder a
dissenting opinion on why it's
not selling too, sometimes too
low a price drives off buyers
as well because they assume
it's junk. Tried to sell a
nice looking 1256 IH for $8500
and got no calls. A jocky I
know said it was because the
price was too low and folks
thought it was junk. Relisted
it in the same paper a week
later for $12,500 and sold it
the first day for cash. Was a
quite a learning experience
for me.

When I rent a 60hp tractor out it comes with the operator, me. 75 to 100 dollars an hour depending on what I'm doing. I don't loan
anything out without me included.

Seems like your tractor would be easy to sell as popular as they are. Unless your asking too much.

best i can tell is all of you are right on about rent i may have it priced a little to high as i bought it with a blow engine and ended up putting to much money in it so what i probly do jsut make him a good price if he take fine if not it go back in the barn it dont eat any thing. thanks for all the response ben
