long 1199 backhoe

I just bought one with issues. The guy bought a new cylinder, and sent it to me, (the one on the bottom of the boom) and it's the wrong one. I don't know what to order.
Thanks

I have had a Long 1199B backhoe for near 40 years for use on the farm. It is in need of main boom cylinder repair . I have a seal kit for it and I have replaced seals in cylinders before so that is no problem for me. Problem is the chromed cylinder rod has some rusting and minor pitting. Inside of tube could also have pitting from water seeping by rod seals and pooling in lower end of tube. I recently stopped at a hydraulic repair business and asked about possibility of having new rod and tube made should they both be so damaged as to be unusable. Guy said it would be expensive, more so than a new cylinder. He had no knowlegce of Lantex brand cylinders used on the Long backhoe but said to bring it in for examination and if replacement is best option he could match up a comparable cylinder from his source's catalogs. I'll get the thing off soon and find out what I need to do.

I ordered cylinder seals and bucket teeth for backhoe a few years ago from

I hate to bring a dead old thread back to life, but search doesn't return any results on "Long 1199b."

If you're still around the forum, does your offer to make copies of the parts book still stand? I feel ebay pricing is a little extreme for a non-original copied version, and can't seem to find manuals anywhere else. I just picked up an 1199B that needs a bit of work, I figure a parts manual isn't a bad starting place..

I don't see that email is an option on your profile, and the forum says private messaging is disabled.

Likewise, if anyone else has parts or operator's manuals for these, I'd be happy to pay for copies!
