I just finished going through the operators manual for my 1 gallon safety gas jug. It is a 27 page manual written in 7 different languages. I have had this jug for several years but have to refresh my memory every spring as to how to get gas to come out of it. I have written down several notes to carry with me in my shirt pocket so when I try to extract some gas from it tomorrow I can refer to my notes. Wish me luck! Have a nice evening.

I just unscrew the stupid cap and pour gas out of them like the old jerry cans. I would sure like to get my hands of the .............that invented these "green" fuel spouts. I have a lot of furnace ducting around. One of these days I am going to try to make some fuel spouts of my own.

The idiot(s) who came up with these new gas cans have caused more gas to be spilled than ever was spilled by our ancestors. They should be condemned to a hell lower than Hitler! Try to get a conventional jerry can a pour gas.

I buy the old style cans at Estate sales. Dirty doesn't matter as long as the caps fit tight and the spout is not cracked at the flange where it fits the jug. I wash them with degreaser and pressure wash them inside and out and sell them on Craig's List. It takes a certain person to appreciate them as the younger crowd now has only known the new ones. I get $20-$25 for the 5 gallon ones with the hard yellow spouts when they clean up to look like new. 5 gallon ones are the ones people seem to be willing to pay for. Personally I've switched to 2.5 gallon ones as the 5 gallon ones are too heavy for me for lawn equipment.

Now I find out they sell these at Tractor Supply and probably Ebay and other places.

Of course spending $13 more to convert a new jug isn't a perfect solution either.

probably ebay and other places too.

I picked up a couple of "easy-flow" gas and cans never looked back. They have a thumb button to release the gas. And they have a fairly large neck on the can to allow for good flow.

Over 20+ years ago one of the janitors at the high school gave me three 5 gallon plastic jugs that some floor cleaning liquid had come in. I've been using those as my gas cans ever since. I have a large funnel for filling the tractors and a smaller one for the lawn mowers. Works great, and doesn't spill enough gas to ever worry about.

I'm with you. I'd like to get the person(s) responsible for these new cans and put them 25 miles out in the desert with one of these cans filled with pure clean water and then take a hammer and smash his thumbs, wish him a good day and get in my truck and drive away. We can all dream, can't we? TDF

I bought a No-spill gas can at Fleet Farm. They work great and all you have to do is push a button. I have two, a one gallon and a two and a half gallon. I plan on getting a five gallon for my lawn tractor.

i always check out yard sales in my area for the old usable gas cans i had a new one and found it pretty much usless

Buy the push button one at TSC, drill a 3/16 hole in the side of the tabs that protects the push button, insert a number six 8 nail to hold the button in. With button out, Set can on hood with spout in tank, push in button, insert nail and wait.
