Saving orginal patina

What is the best way to save the patina on
orginal tractors? The sheet metal I'll
just wax and buff. Wondering about the
chassis.

I know some guys that have hotrods just wipe them down with diesel fuel

This might be splitting hairs but if you do anything to the patina (wax, polish, clearcoat, etc), then it's not really original anymore. Or is it? I like untouched patina.
