12/6 volt jump pacs

A few days back, there was a discussion about jump start pacs.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a 6 volt pac. I don't mind
jumping a 6 v. battery with a 12 v. pac, but I'm not sure I'd want to run a
6 v. machine on a 12 v. pac for an extended period of time.
As in no battery, just the pac powering a 6 v. system.
Anyone do anything like that??

If there's no battery, there's no problem running a 6V vehicle off of a 12V pack. The generator won't charge, but it probably wasn't charging anyway. Even if it was charging, the 12V won't hurt it because it's all mechanical. The regulator will just cut out and not charge.

Your only concern would be any 6V accessories like lights or a radio. Those will not deal well with the excess voltage.

Jumping a 6 volt battery with a 12 volt pack is a good way to have it explode in your face and then you can/will loose your eye sight. NEVER a good idea to do that. Yes you can jump right to the starter to spin it over but if the battery does not have enough power it will not start

Temporary jump starting is one thing but running on 12 volts is different. If you jump the starter ONLY there's less hazard versus applying 12 volts to a 6 volt battery THAT CAN EXPOLDE given the wrong set of circumstances. A 6 volt coil would overheat if you tried to run it at 12 volts very long.

Yes, I understand the explosion danger, so when I do jump 12 to 6,
I go directly to the starter with the power clamp (+ or -, depending on the battery polarity) and the other clamp
to a frame or bolt, not the battery.
When it's necessary to go to the battery, the power clamp to the proper battery terminal FIRST
and the other clamp is hooked to frame or bolt LAST away from the battery. Any way, that is how I do it.
So far, I've had exceptionally very good luck and not any problems.
However, I'm always aware of what can happen, and I proceed with caution.
