I replaced both clutch plates in my 414 a couple yrs ago and at that time it was very easy to tell when the tranny clutch reached the release stage at about half way down..It is set proper but there just does not seem to be much of a difference when pushing it dowwnTo release ..Seems to be the same pressure all the way down..Is there anyway I can inspect those clutches without tearing the whole thing apart..It has not been used that much since replaced including pressure plate..Thanks in advance...Harry

I have a 434 which is the B414's alien counterpart. You have to have less than 1" of pedal free-play to release the PTO clutch before the pedal hits the foot rest. The pedal may have slipped slightly on the release shaft, and thus not releasing the PTO clutch at all. The only external adjustment is the pedal free play. If this is correct, connect the PTO to something to verify the operation of the PTO clutch. If the PTO can't be de-clutched, Your only other course of action is to split the tractor.

I have had it on a bush hog and it works fine and releases..I just don't get that feel between tranny and pto clutching...Probably me just being a worry wart..THNKS
