I'm putting together a 4000 out of parts and pieces that I have.
Have decent tires but the rims are shot.
So I got lucky last winter and bought these real nice JD rims for cheap.
But do think the bolt holes will match up?
Nooooo! They're about 1/4" off.
I kinda knew that but was hoping...
I should write to the JD CEO and tell him to make his parts fit my Fords.
Don't ya think? 😉
Oh well.
Guess I'll go back to my original plan and weld them on to my centers.

Just because those rims had yellow paint on them is not a 100% guarantee they were sold originally by JD. Do they have a number stamped into them?

Considering nearly all the parts for both companies are made in the same country, if not the same factory, you would think that they would interchange easily. If it were me I would just drill or slot the holes on one or the other to make it work. A 1/4" is easily manipulated and as snugly as those centers fit I don't think anything could work loose. Either way you go I would have to paint the rims as I would not want to advertise resorting to John Deere parts to get my Ford or any other brand for that matter up and running. My 2 cents

Any number I've ever seen on an ag rim has been the manufacturer's number, like Electric Wheel, or
Firestone, or French & Heckt, also Kelsey-Hayes, or Good Year or Motor Wheel, and if new enough, Titan
Wheel, and I've seen Hundreds of thousands of ag wheels and rims.

Do you really believe all parts are made in the same factory to the same specs not to mention those rims are probably 50 years old ? That has got to be one of the biggest lies spread by people who really have no idea .

Yeah, I'm thinking these are metric.
Didn't really expect them to fit.
I did the same thing about 8? years ago.
That time they were 36". Really hard to find that size rim for a Ford.
Tractor wasn't pretty but it ran real good.
Sold it as you see it.
Weekend warrior bought it and didn't care about the looks.
Am hoping to do the same with this one here.

The British ones did and there were a few of those imported here.
Note the 6 lug nuts on it too.
The US ones were 8 lug.
The tire size and lug pattern were a hold-over from the Fordson Super Majors, etc.

SV, That first statement of mine was meant to be taken as a joke. I was just doing a spin-off of the running gag about parts from "The land of almost right" Yes I noticed the rims are older rims. The OP used "tongue in cheek humor" and I just added to it, no offense intended.

Got two ford 4000s. Both with 6 lug centers and 36 inch rims. I think the 6 center bolts make the disk a little weaker and prefer the 8 bolt/ nut centers. They can be converted, but it is a pita to change out the final drive axle to an 8 bolt.
