TW15 Will not move at times

Good Morning.

Hoping to get a little help, I'm stumped!

I have a early model TW15 4x4. At times, usually after sitting for a bit the tractor will not move in any gear and with the DP in high or low. It lurches ahead slightly then nothing, no noise, no smell of burning clutch. Tractor runs well, shifts ok and doesn't make any unusual noises while driving it. Fluids are clean and up to operating level. Only thing I noticed a bit different about this tractor is that the DP seems to shift a bit harsh compared to our 8700 and 2 8000's
Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks!

sweetcornfarmer,
First off, I would post this over on the Ford board. There are some great guys over there. Maybe they have more ideas.

First thing I would do is check the pressure in the low pressure side of the hydraulic pump. The pump may be weak?

Agree low pressure side of pump is weak, or the pto input shaft stripped at clutch? and pump gear not engaging?

Does the 3pt hydraulics work correctly off the high side of the pump? If 3 pt works correctly then suspect low side of pump..Does the pto work correctly? Low side problem in pto clutch and dual power clutch, both of which run on the low side of the pump..

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies. Yes the 3 pt does work properly. I'll check that low pressure this weekend.

Thanks for the heads up on the different areas of the forum.

Good Morning

I did check the low pressure yesterday. You guys where correct, gauge read zero for about 5 minutes, then suddenly went up to about 120 and I could move the tractor. At idle I get 120 pounds and just under 180 at 2000 RPM.
I'll repost this on the Ford forum but I just wanted to let the two of you know that you were correct...Thanks!

Some of the larger old Fords I believe had a problem with the hydraulic lift tube coming loose. This results in losing prime after sitting for awhile and taking awhile to develop pressure. Sorry I can't tell you the best access route.
