OT: Un-detune a Cummins 6.7 truck...

All,

I have a 2010 Ram cummins stickshift. Apparently the ram folks have de-tuned the 6.7 litre engine stick so as to not have to worry about clutch issues under warranty.

Well, my truck is no longer covered under warranty, so my question is how do I return the engine to its original power out put?

I have the sticker under the hood that states it has underwent a modification per warranty specs. I want the power it had when I test drove it.

Located in the metroarea of Minnesota. No emmissions inspection thanks to Jesse Ventura.

Thanks in advance,

D.

I would say it had the same power when you test drove it that it has now. I cant image a dealership "detune" an engine after a test drive. Besides thats something that would have already been done at factory if so for all straight drives. From being a shop foreman at a dealership for little over 17 years i have never heard of that.

They came out with 2 different horsepower ratings, lower hp for the stick. As off this year there is no stick offering.

ditchwitch,

I witnessed the "factory" alteration.

You know, it's on the net so therefore it must be true...tongue in cheek.

However, it's definitely less than an auto. I want that low torque back. Like when I drove it, not some bean-counter defined plan to keep ram from warranty honors.

You can go to about any diesel shop, they can sell you a tune package of your choice.

Anything from slight to rolling black smoke.

The downfall is, the dealer will not touch it without taking the tune back to stock.

The other downfall, it might break something if pushed too hard.

Running a 5 stage edge box with 75 plus injectors on a 5.9 it pulls good and gets good mileage doing it 27500 gvw on the last Load and averaged 11 mpg been. Running scrap down south the last few weeks 14.5 mpg at 19000 gvw . If I had a 6.7 I?d delete it if you haven?t already

4520,

I did watch some "change" and subsequently a sticker. I have driven an auto of similar gearing and vintage. I know there is a difference.

10350030BB modification was performed on the engine control module, sticker says soas well. I come up with little to no info in searches, but it seems Ram wants to keep that info to themselves.

By the way, I am looking for help, if there's any out there. I do not want to "roll coal", rather get bak what the 6.7cummins should produce.

I would be interested in knowing what all was done at the dealer. They should not be messing with the cals as they are factory set. I work with a service engineer that was at mid range engine before he came to power generation. He said they should not of been messed with.

I purchased a 2010 4x4 with the stick brand new in 2010. It never lacked for power and would pull anything I wanted. In 4 wheel drive with decent traction it would smoke the clutch quite easily.
I never heard of one being detuned but that is the reason the stick also had less towing capacity then auto.
