I bought a new to me Ford 2000 yesterday at our local consignment auction. 1830 hours show on the working meter. power steering is as nice and tight as can be. needs a tuneup. came with road chains, overrunning clutch on the pto, 3pt drawbar, and a crummy log chain. MANY thanks to agjim for insight on what I was looking at, before the sale.
actually, the tractor is for one of my hay customers, who has been after me for a couple years to find her a small tractor for her farm. I think we hit a home run with this one.
second picture is the total of my purchases from the auction. pallet of Ih wheel weights, and a 16x38 usable rim on a not-needed center.

yes, I have been getting it freed up and patched, to try and use it for a half load- probably all I can stand for slow going. my late friend had it but never used it.

I had never seen one until a neighbor/collector got one. Interesting concept. I wonder how that long combination snapping/husking roll worked when new? And yes, speed would be interesting. My experience is all with NI one row pickers. 6 roll husking bed was busy. 4 MPH was the maximum for us.

growing up, I had totally missed the fact that Allis even made a picker. this one is half of the 2row that went on a WD. there was a pull behind Allis, all restored, at Rantoul in 2017. I talked to the owner, who was lamenting the fact that he had brought his Allis B or C, instead of his WD with the hand clutch and slower first gear. and he was right- when it came his turn to go up the row, he got maybe 150' before he pulled out of the row because the picker was plugged full, and he spent the next half hour digging it out.
i haven't used it yet, but it will be behind a 656 hydro when I do. I figure a half wagon will be enough torture for me and it. if we get even that far.
