Hi. I am currently working on a 1953 ford jubilee
Im in the process of painting/restoring it to use
On the farm i have replaced all
The gauges cause others didnt work
I am having issues on the the gauge running at 80 psi
Which is max on the gauge im assuming its running
To high am i wrong? Do i need a bigger psi gauge ?
Only thing ive done is changed the oil i use Pennzoil 10/40
Thank you in advance

I agree with Pete, check it with a known good gauge.

Those are capable of making that kind of pressure with cold oil.

Do you know any history on the tractor? If it really is running that high, possibly someone has modified the relief valve spring. That often happens when someone thinks stretching or shimming the spring will raise low oil pressure. And then sometimes the relief valve just gets stuck.

Accessing it involves removing the pan, it's in the oil pump.

may be fine, my jube does that and ive had it 35 years, when it gets warmed up it drops to 60 psi at 1200 rpm , below that it drops to 30 or so
