Tire spacing for plowing. . .

What should the rear tire space be (from center of tractor to inside of furrow tire) for pulling a 3-pt, 3-16" bottom plow?
Thank you!

The tire spacing is going to determine thee width of cut for the front bottom. Do you have a book for your plow. What kind of plow is it. If the first furrow does not cut 16 inches move the wheel in or out so it does. Is this a roll over plow? Does your plow have coulters.

I have an Oliver 4340 pulltype that has several pages on plow setup, & spacing. Hard, & light ground have different tire spacings as well.
I strongly urge You get a manual. Way to many factors involved in correctly setting up almost any plow!

Get the manual on your plows. You can change the lead and that will effect the width of 1st furrow, but
will make the plow pull hard. If I recall correctly my 3x14's say 26 inches from center of tractor to
sidewall of tire.

I have an Oliver 880 and it pulls a 3-14 semi mounted plow. It has 15.5 x 38 tires. Can't tell you
the exact measurement to the inside of the tires but, from the center of the tractor to the center
of the tire is 30 inches. Perfect setting for that plow. I would think that you would need to be
just a little wider for 16 inch bottoms.

Manual is best, but you can measure from the center of the hitch to the first beam and add to that the 16" first bottom. Should be around 26".

Here is what my Case manual says. Note that wheel spacing is tire to tire so divide by 2. It should get you
close. Also note the draft bar adjustment, and lead adjustment.----Loren

It is not just wheel spacing. The plow hitch and the tractor draw bar need to be correctly adjusted also for the proper pull point of the plow's draft.
