Super A Quit Running

Planned to let a youngster use the a Super A and Woods belly mower to mow an open level area on Tuesday. I circled the area in tall grass in second
gear. Before I completed the circle that tractor was running strong and died suddenly. Young man helped me get it back under roof and I returned today
to diagnose the problem. Gas tank was 90% full. Flashlight inspection revealed absolutely no rust or debris in tank with the exception of a round black
object in the port to the sediment bulb. Sediment bulb pulled and it had a wing and some legs in it! Bee was the culprit. Borrowed a plastic gas jug
from neighbor to siphon out the tank. He assured me it was clean. Flashlight revealed a bee in it too. Took the tank off and used air pressure to
dislodge the critter. All is well now, but I still smell like gasoline. Don

good job you fixed it! reminds me of my uncle . he would cover the storage tank nozzle and would say " a bee could get in there".

While you had stuff apart did you install one of those filter screen things in the hole for the sediment bowl? They solve sooo many problems.

That looks like a great idea! My wife's motorcycle (Suzuki) has something like that right from the factory. When I buy gas I try to remember to point the nozzle down and shake it, most of the time a little gas comes out.

I had an extender in the drain, but it did not have the screen. Obviously I need to be more vigilant about covering the spouts on my gas storage jugs

While running the maintenance truck for a large mining company I had a problem with a large track hoe years ago. It would be running fine and suddenly it would start starving for fuel and shut down the operator would call me on the radio and by time I got there and looked everything over and primed it to get it going the fuel would be flowing fine from the tank. This happened a couple of times and then it finally shut down and would not flow fuel. There was a small acorn in the tank. Fortunately the tank was only about 1/4 full when we had to pull it to clean it out. Never underestimate the stopping power of a small acorn!
