Ford 4610 battery

I left the key on, on my ford 4610 for about 2 weeks, it killed the battery, may have ran the hour meter up too, I dident look, but what would draw that much to kill the battery? 29 years with this tractor never had this happen!

Do those have a solenoid on the pump to stop them or are they the same as the older 3 bangers with a kill cable?
Solenoid valve on for 2 weeks would definately kill a battery.

Orginally tac/hour meter is mechanical. So no run no time. Could jump off another battery then charge slow or buy new battery if over 3-4 years old. Them 4DLTs don't last that long for what they cost. I have milked a lot of years out of one on my 5000, but if doesn't start real quick it wont spin fast enough.

Mine has a fuel cut off switch or a pull cable or a red handle on the dash whatever you want to call it, it has a mechanical fuel pump

The alternator requires current to make current so the power supplied by the battery keeps the alternator on which will run the battery dead overnight most times

Apparently 1 wire alternators don't work that way,I have several diesel tractors hooked up with the hot wire running from the alternator directly to the battery. There is no off/on switch
just a push button to start the tractor,I can let it set for a couple months and the tractor fires right up.

The one wire alternator on my VAC won't start charging until the engine is revved up about half throttle. I'm sure this affects whether they will discharge the battery in a similar manner.

Traditional that would be correct they are self exciting no current requirement to kick them on but they do need to be brought up to rpm before they will start charging

I don't know if a 1 wire Delco or the regulator on a factory charging system draw any power with the key on, but you'd be surprised how much power those 2 little dash lights draw over time.
Two weeks means those little bulbs were burning for over 300 hours

Jay,
When you turn the key, several lights come on. Oil pressure and Charge indicator at least.
Those plus the alternator would pull the battery down.
From my experience, you just took a couple of years off the life of the battery. It may recover but don't expect it to last as long as it could have.
YMMV

Destroked 450 beat me but I had the same thought.
