rear wheels locked up

1965 Ford diesel 4cyl. ----Rear wheels are locked up SELECT-O-SPEED trans. (in neutral position and clutch pedal pushed down) -- engine not able to run at the moment. All I can do is DRAG the tractor across the ground. Wheels turned about 2 ft. of rotation so I don't think the brakes are locked. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Is there a parking brake somewhere?

Maybe the pin for the spider gears came out part way and stopping the rotation, have seen this with other tractors, but unfamiliar with a ford.

I thought I read on here earlier those have a TOW disconnect some place by where your feet would be when sitting on them ?

The SOS transmission locks up when the engine is not running. You have to disconnect the differential from the tranny to tow the tractor. I assume this is a 5000. I don't where the disconnect is, but someone on here will.

On a 65 all the numbers should be on a decal under the hood part that opens to get to the battery. I had both a 65 and a 68 4000 (4100) the model with the 38" rear wheels and a 65 5000 (5100) but all with the 8 speed.

According to the serial number listing in the left column, the beginning number for 1964 is 38931 and the beginning number for 1965 is C100000. That would make your tractor a 1964 which would be a 4 cylinder.

And sold as a carry over in 65 so the buyer just considered it being a 65 as in the year he bought it and not the year it was made. Has happened on many a thing.

On the 4 cylinder models with SOS trans you need to turn the traction disconnect in order to roll the tractor.
The disconnect is on the left side by the axle dip stick.

Remove the nut on top, remove to S shaped lever, turn it around and reinstall it on the shaft.
While rocking the tractor rotate the lever "don't remember which direction, it'll only turn one way", until the wheels are free to roll.
You should be able to turn the lever back around and reinstall it on the shaft and stud.
Word of caution, once the traction disconnect is turned to allow the tractor to roll the rear axle will be disconnected from the transmission, there forth the only thing that will stop the tractor from rolling off are the brakes.
Once you have the tractor moved to the location you want it's best to reengage the traction disconnect or chock the wheels, other wise the tractor could roll away.
