Mobile home axles convert to lug style

My father in law has a small goose neck trailer just big enough to haul a full size truck.
It has mobile home axles and he wants to change the hubs and put regular lug style hubs on it.
Has anyone ever did this?
Is it possible to do?
I know that he will need different hubs and bearings.

Thanks for the info

I?ve did it on three different trailers, ordered the hubs off of eBay. On one trailer I put six lug Chevy hubs on because I had Chevy wheels on hand, another trailer I put Ford 5x5-1/2 hubs on because I had some ford wheels and the last trailer I went with 8 lug hubs......

I did it; changed them over to six lug 5200# hubs with brakes. I think it was about $100/axle. I had to cut off the old mounting flanges and weld on new ones. I did alot of measuring and tacking to make sure everything was square before I welded them solid. It worked out just fine.

All depends on what hubs you have. My old Donahue trailer had ?lowboy ? wheels on it. 9X14.5 tires. I could not find hubs that would work for it. Owned the trailer for 12 years and got more out of it when we sold it then we paid for it.

Would it be easier to install new axles that already have new hubs, new bearings and new brakes included?

Used trailers sell for ridiculously high prices, especially those in poor condition. If you include the fair value of your labor, it might be least cost to sell the old trailer as-is and buy a new trailer or a nearly new one.
