Massey 165 diesel fuel lift pump leak

Hi everyone! Apologies if this is a redundant question - for the life of me can't find a search feature for past forum posts (am I missing something?)

I have a 165 perkins diesel (AD4 203). Had it for three seasons now, and this spring noticed a very small weep coming from the bottom of the lift pump when it sits for a bit (seemingly somewhere near where the manual pumping lever connects, at the bottom of the pump itself. Does not appear to be at the diaphragm, as that has never had diesel visible on it). Won't see any flow after cleaning it or running it, but then after a day or two there's a film of diesel all the way down over the starter (below) and down the engine block. No visible drips, just a thin sheen.

I've never had to deal with a pump before (my other tractor is a 135 perkins gas), so I'm trying to determine:

A) The cause (probably hard to answer)
B) Whether it's worth it to buy a repair kit and/or other parts to replace rings, gaskets, etc in the pump.
C) Whether it's more economical / sensible to just buy a new lift pump (I see one on this site for ~$27?? Any recommendations or reviews from anyone of the one available here? https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Massey-Ferguson-165_Fuel-Lift-Pump_3637286M91.html)

Here's the Massey Parts Diagram: http://www.agcopartsbooks.com/PartsBooksN/Viewer/book.aspx?book=agco/651194

Thank you!

I put 2 new ones on the SC State Ag Museum's 165. Both of them leaked. I would like to find one that does not leak. It leaks motor oil, not diesel fuel.

Ah - are those ones from the Yesterday's Tractors store? No oil leaking on mine, luckily - would that be anything more than the gasket?

Thanks!

My Super 90 seems to have plenty of leaks on both sides of the Perkins engine. Not enough to worry me. Everything works fine. I'll pressure wash the engine maybe once a year to remove the accumulated dirt that sticks and it stays clean for a while.

Hmm, that?s interesting. I should look (and smell) more closely - the thinness and amount that the sheen from the weep is spread out made me assume diesel, but that sounds like the same spot mine is weeping from.

Thanks!

That makes sense. The only part that concerns me
is having diesel around the starter, solenoid, and
electrical connections. Or is that being overly
concerned?

Ah, it IS oil! Thank you for helping me catch that! Any thoughts on what would cause that on an older pump? Might even be original
