175 massey not wanting to run

I have massey 175 desil just started to have problem will star right up and throttle up and down for 5 min or more then will shut down like it ran out of fuel but will start right up and do the same thing not sure what is going on any suggestions ?

Sounds like there could be air getting into the system. Does it have the old original style fuel filters, or has this tractor been updated to the spin on style? If you have change the fuel filters recently, you may not have the O-Ring seal placed right. I remember having a 165 MF that gave me a bad time when I was a young lad.

Exact same thing happened to me and my 175. Turned out to be a bunch of junk in the tank and lines plugging up the fuel flow. Drained and cleaned the tank and fuel lines and no more problems. Try removing the fuel line from the tank at the lift pump and see if any fuel flows.

I'm guessing fuel filter or like others have said, trash in fuel line.

I have a 175 and the first thing I'd do is change the filters. While the filter is out turn the fuel on and see if it runs out of the tank ok. Might be the petcock is plugged.
