The triticale I drilled November 6 is really staring to take off. I got lucky and a we got a big rain just before I planted I wasn?t going to plant them the rain came so I went ahead anyway and now I?m glad I did

I makes great feed as it is higher in protein than wheat.
I did variety testing on it years ago at Clemson and all around SC.
One year during a late freeze in April, it died to the ground, so we thought.
It came back and tillered and made a very good yield.
It never caught on as a crop here though.

I grew up eating lots of rolled oats and rolled wheat,73 years later I'm still doing it,but
when triticale came along it's better than the others, hard to find but the best there is for
rolled cereal.
 
Guys plant peas and trit sometimes around here and chop it for the silo.... Peas and oats probably are more common though. Northern Wis.
