Unless you have an f450 you will exceed the towing capacity of the truck Most single wheel trucks max out at 12500.11000# dozer plus 4000# for the trailer plus chains and binders your at 15000+

would not worry about towing that much weight you will pull the guts out of a f-250 but try stopping 25k pounds you would be better off to hire it out to somebody that has a semi
 
I have a 2016 F250 (6.2 gas and 3.42 axles) and use a 25? gooseneck trailer with two 7k axles. 11k on the deck of the trailer is right about my limit. Truck seems happy enough with it though, not going to win any races but I get there. Sam
 
I use to haul an 850 on a on my corn pro goose neck behind an F350 srw with no problems. People will tell you that you need a semi and 5 axle trailer to haul an M!
 
I would recommend a 14,000# trailer. Yes it?s bigger than you need but it will be fine behind your next truck.
 
I have a 95 F450 super duty with the 7.5 gas V8 with 4:63 rear end gear ratio and 22,000 lb.tow and if it had the 5:13 rear end it could tow 26,000 lbs..
 
I would advise a gooseneck for better and easier weight distribution. A 14k will do it but will be about all the tires can handle. 3x7000 would be better as would a 2x10,000. The more or larger axles also increase braking ability. A lot depends on where you will be moving it, how often and how far.
 
If I understand it correctly, my trailer that is rated for 14k, can haul about 5 tons, because it weights over 4k by itself. So if you want to haul 11k, you will need a trailer rated for more than 14k. They will of course handle and haul more than it is rated for, but why get caught with a trailer that is underrated for your needs?
 
A 14,000 lb. 25 ft deck gooseneck will weigh 5,100 lb. from the factory and by the time you put a toolbox with straps, chains ,binders, jack, wrenches,spare tire,and winch you will weigh in about 5,600 lbs.. 5,600 lbs.+ 11,000 lbs.= 16,600 lbs. If he is going to haul a load like that all the time he needs a tri axle or a dual wheeled 10,000 lb.tandem axle trailer.
 
You got the calculations wrong. For a gooseneck you get 14k from the axles and 6k from the hitch for a total of 20k. Subtract 6k for the trailer and you have a usable capacity of 14k. That would haul an 11k load fairly well as long as the trailer is well built. Some trailer brands don't handle hauling close to max well, but some do.
 
There are reasons not to add it together, licensing and dot regs and such, but they can and so add it all together when they want to. An example are the popular 10k trailers, they put on 2-6k axles and call them 10k to stay under the CDL rules. But if you had a CDL you could buy one and get them to rated the same trailer at 12k plus what ever the coupler is rated for. And then many sales people are just uninformed as well.
 
When we bought our gooseneck they said since you can transfer more load to the truck the trailer will handle the full capacity.
 
Or do like my local guy. He has a medium duty truck and has a flat bed with a beaver tail on it and the dozer can just climb right up on it.

D. Beatty, you have never noted any of the truckers here telling about being under their gross limit but over on an axle or two when going on the scale? Well, it is the same for smaller trailers. A trailer carries its full rated load when the front is supported by an "adequate" towing vehicle. If you are close they will check the weight on each truck axle, same as with the big rigs.
