When walking scaffold and you aren't watching and you step down to another plank......1 1/2 (or 2) inch heart attack as we used to call it. Thanks for the funnies Jon.

A few years ago I was at work on a Saturday, by myself installing some air line.

I had a ladder leaned against the wall, on a greasy floor...

The ladder slid out, I had no choice but to ride it down.

When it went down, it went under a heavy steel work bench. I felt the corner of the bench hit me in the back as I went down and under. After assessing the damage, and realizing I had escaped with minor injuries, I went back to work.

That night when I got home and took my work clothes off, I noticed an inch long gouge out of the back center of my leather belt.

The belt had caught the corner of the table and saved me some very serious injury! An inch lower or higher and who knows what would have happened, especially being there by myself, the doors locked!

Sort of like when your driving semi down a hill in an ice storm and your doing 45 and the trailer wants to do 55.

Was working up through a ceiling at work years ago installing a big fan for a 4x8 vacuum hood I built in our seed packing room at Clemson.
At least 4 guys watching me work. Ladder slipped on concrete floor and I came down through the ceiling, scraped my arms on the overhead cabinets, bounced off the counter top and hit the concrete floor.
One guy tried to get me up very fast.
I yelled WHOA. Let me see if I am hurt bad.
Went to the University medical center. The doc looked at my back and said "Man, you had a hell of a fall". DUH.

Or when your on an on track machine when it derails and it drops about 8 inches but feels like it?s 3 ft

Too bad one of the "watchers" wasn't holding the ladder. Or at least using it to lean against while he did nothing.

Q: What is orange and sleeps 3?
A: A county pickup.

I used to build and install carwash machines. I was standing on a stepladder, feet about shoulder high when somebody turned the brushes on. I had no choice except to jump to the concrete floor.
