Terribly wrong ! According to this I should be making
over 30$ an hour . No wonder citiots think farmers
and ranchers are rich .

That math works out to 40 hours per week. Not many farmers that only work that. There's just too many variables to even come up with accurate data to get an average. Some will have yearly income in that range but the hourly rate will be less. Also depends on what type of farming/ranching they are involved in.

Paul I?ll second that . 35$ an hour ? If a guy could make an average of 4$ an hour he could retire at 45 with 2 million dollars in the bank

Old 9 . I tmake about 50% after all the bills are paid insurance tires parts fuel grade bolts and nuts and whatever else comes up . Doing custom work is a whole lot different than putting a crop in the ground and trying to make money from it .

(quoted from post at 23:38:10 03/24/19) yes my equipment, fuel , I'm sure in the Midwest prices are different
he trouble with surveys, statistics, polls, etc., is that you figure out what you want the result to be, then the methods can be tailored to yield that result. Sorry to burst your balloon.

?.They said I made 80'000 last year. Yea, but it cost 79,000 to do that.so I worked all year for 1000.

That "wage" is calculated based on a 40 hour week.

It is unclear if the "wage" is limited to earned income, or includes such things as farm subsidies, rent and capital gains. And it may not reflect the nature of family farming, where husband and wife share the work but only one spouse's occupation is listed as "farmer".

I think they confuse gross and net.

Easy to make gross amounts per hour....

Not so easy to make net amounts per hour.

so your saying that as a farmer you do not draw a 69,000 salary out of your business? Gross or net makes no difference like it does in the private sector. What do you pay your self to pay the bills?
