well the 10 that I bought are junk [victure trail cam] 10 AA batts last about 3 days, anybody got better ones to try? caught the trapper again got plate #, took it to a friend a city cop, then went to trapper's house and told him not to come back to my farm he told me to leave his property and I did told him not to come back to mine, well he didn't listen. sat nite there sits his truck by the creek in my field again had to cut the chain to get in....OK that's three times had enough of this guy. so he didn't see me I jumped out on the twp road drove bout five miles around to the house to get a better gun went back the farm path, saw where trapper wes in creek, I stopper about 140 yards from truck in a thicket, made sure his truck wouldn't move then I went home.....truck still there this AM...got to make sure I find all of the traps because I noodle the banks for snappin turtles, don't want my hand in a trap

I'm reading between the lines here. Of course, you didn't shoot the trapper (I hope) but you shot out his tires?

You say you gave his plate number to the police and clearly know who it is. Did the police not do anything? Did they not go talk to him?

I recommend a state police, or county sheriff take over the encounter side of the issue. A criminal lawyer is also needed. If there is no understanding on the issue. you might be harmed! Jim

I agree. The authorities need to be involved. This situation now has escalated greatly. I would expect to see some retribution from anyone brazen enough to ignore a direct warning.

I have some made by Bushnell. 4AA Batts last 6 months and will take perhaps a thousand photos. I leave them out year round. Can't find a model name or nymber on it. It is smaller, About 3 1/2 x 5 inches. cost about $75.

You need to get the Sheriff involved. Giving it to a city police friend probably won't get much accomplished, because city police don't have jurisdiction in the country. The guy is pretty brazen, and this could get real ugly real fast.

I am intrigued about noodling for snapping turtles- do you reach under the bank and pull them out when they bite you? I guess that wouldn't be a whole lot different than noodling for traps, at least as to the final effect.

I use Tasco model119270CW they use 8 AA either lithium or alkaline and last all deer season and then some. But I do not know what state you live in but in Texas if we have problems like that all we have to do is call the game warden and they take care of it , just my 2 cents but if I were you that's what I would do.

johnofnewhaven, I live in the country my friend a city cop ran the tag for me, there is no police involoved??...Crazy Horse took out some tires and maby a gas tank

If you are not within the city limits, the city cop has no jurisdiction in the matter and the trapper knows that. You need to get your sheriff involved, and your state DNR too. Do you have a lawyer to consult on how to pursue this properly?

If you keep taking actions on your own you could loose your farm and your business in law suits. Leave the traps where they are for now, they are evidence of trespassing.

coshoo,9 out of 10 turtles will nest head first in the banks of the creek, you reach in feel around get them by the tail and throw them up on the bank, there is about a mile of creek on my property I hunt it about four timer a year, yield about 40 big enough to keep. a lot of good eaten

Your actions are very ill-advised. Depending on your state's laws, your LEO friend may have broken the law by running the plate number for you. As for what you might or might not have done to the trapper's vehicle, you could be in big trouble if he claims you endangered his life.

Trespass and illegal trapping are serious enough offenses that your local sheriff and/or game warden should take action.

Traditional Farmer, never thought of that, good one I'LL bet I can take the plug out with my 30-06 not a problem

My daughter bought me an Apeman camera to replace my Bushnell. The latter was a $200 camera. The Apeman must be cheap because she does not have a large budget. I have had it two years, use it almost everyday and have yet to replace batteries. Takes nice pics.

I hook all my cameras to an external battery. Lawn mower batteries work great. Not heavy to carry around. Still have to have the internal batteries. I take a lot of videos and that takes more battery than still pictures. I have one camera out all winter and I put the lithium AA batteries in there along with the external battery. Showed 100 per cent a few days ago.

Some camera's take 6 volt but most are 12 volt so you have to be aware of that so as not to damage camera. One camera out of my four still uses 8 AA batteries but requires only 6 volt external. One cheap camera uses D size batteries but that one will not take many pictures before they are low. External battery keeps it going a real long time.

One by the barn will get a wild hair sometimes and take 4 thousand still pictures in one night. I have to change sensitivity setting on it with weather changes. It is also the most expensive camera of the bunch.

Also, you can set two camera's side by side and they will capture different pictures sometimes. Some times one will miss a picture and then next time the other one will even though the object is in the view for way longer than interval settings on camera.

Stonecrop ...... your statement "Crazy Horse took out some tires and maby a gas tank" should be revised to read ..... "Crazy Horse: I took out some tires and maybe a gas tank" ..... I don't even own a gun and even if I did, I don't think I'd be shooting holes in someone else's tires or fuel tank. I suggest there are more civilized ways to deal with this issue.

Now that is just dumb! Chances are you'll pay for it. If he goes to the police first then you are on the defensive. Police (or third party) are generally bias toward the person to report first.

What state do you live in? Down here, he would have gotten a good curb stompin' on the second time and a visit from the game warden/sheriff. I would have disabled his truck without doing any harm. Slide under and remove some wiring, is easy.

You really do need to get law enforcement involved. The guy is trespassing. Plain and simple. This is a crime. Vandalizing his property is also a crime. Two wrongs do not make a right. You need to have him arrested and removed from your property. If you continue on your present course of damaging his property, you run the risk of prosecution and civil action against you.
