I did find some pictures of frank scruton . These must be a chinia or a cross of the breed

They are some huge breed of cattle . That must?ve
have been a cross of them that created babe the
big blue ox

In the early 80's I built some corrals and barns out of drill stem pipe on a ranch that raised Chianina/Angus cross cows. The pure Chianina bull weighed 3500 lbs. He was a gentle giant. He didn't fit in the squeeze chute but would just stand and let you put in ear tags and give him shots. Several times while I was welding, I would feel something warm on my neck. When I stopped to look he would be standing there looking over my shoulder. He never showed any sign of getting his eyes burned from the welding.

Frank and Pauline were my daughter's best friend's grandparents, so we got to know them. Frank was still taking his team to the fairs and pulls when well into his eighties. His son Arthur who ran the farm until killed in a farming accident a few years ago used to do most of the work with them.

Babe and Paul trifled between the lakes area of US and Canada. Babes ancestors are rumored to be on a farm near Cannington Ontario .

Yup...huge. Frank doesn't look like a very tall man though. Anyone know what the height of those oxen actually is?

DB4600 . That?s neat all I could come up with on a quick google search about babe the blue ox was that there is a statue of Paul and babe at some restaurant.
